Cannabis in Morocco
Cannabis in Morocco has a long history, with cultivation deeply rooted in the Rif region despite formal prohibition since the 1950s. The country has been a major global producer of hashish for decades. In 2021, Morocco took a significant step by passing Law No. 13.21, which legalizes cannabis for medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial purposes under strict state licensing. The National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-related Activities (ANRAC) oversees this new framework. This shift opens opportunities for regulated production and export, while still prohibiting recreational use. For you, this means that if you're interested in the global cannabis landscape, Morocco is emerging as a legal source for medical and industrial cannabis, though it's not yet a destination for recreational purchases.
